Older users online more younger users

A small piece in today’s Sunday Telegraph, entitled “Oldies rule Net, OK” explains that research both here in Australia and Britain has found that older users of the Internet actually use the Internet more than 18 – 24 year olds.

Pensioners average 42 hours a month, while 18 – 24 year olds average 38.

Such a study of course doesn’t explain what older users of the Internet are doing – are they using social networking, eCommerce and so forth… though it does dispel the notion that the Internet is not as relevant to an older audience.

Of course, it could be that older users of the Internet are slower than younger users and that's why they're taking longer.
