I gave a keynote presentation last week at an APEC conference in Melbourne on Government Intellectual Property and the Internet.

The audience were senior officials from IP offices from APEC member countries, and predominantly emerging economies such as the Phillippines, Mexico and Vietnam.

My presentation was around best-practice website development; both the planning, and the build. I discussed usability, traffic and metrics, content management, design and copyright. The purpose of the presentation was to empower IP offices and departments to advise their clients (companies, individuals and IP owners) on the best and most effective approaches to developing and promoting their businesses and IP online.

During a period of questions, I reviewed the websites of several IP offices, providing advice on improvements and enhancements.
